First off, his real name is actually James Worthington. Kimo is a nickname his acquired while spending time in Hawaii.
Ok, the name thing is squared away...so who is he? Kimo is the of GM of PUMA Ocean, or as he calls himself, ‘Head Baby Sitter’. He deals with everything from il mostro’s graphics, budgets, schedules, contracts, invoices and getting the bills paid. I guess you could say he has quite a lot on at times, managing all these different tasks. And not only managing them and the team, Kimo is also keeping everyone happy and working hard.
How does Kimo know so much about the Volvo Ocean Race? He sailed, and won the race with EF language in 2001-2002. During the 2005-2006 edition of the race, he had a similar job, shore side, with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean campaign. And when Kenny Read needed someone to run the shore operations for PUMA Ocean Racing, Kimo was the man for the PUMA job.
In addition to sailing, Kimo is also a windsurfer, skier and can click off quite a few miles on his bike.
