Right now, il mostro is slogging through the Southern Ocean in very tough conditions. The boys who have been there before say that the weather's gone crazy and they are sailing upwind in a part of the world where you are usually flying off waves. Mix in the flu that seems to be passing round the crew onboard, and you have some pretty unpleasant sailing conditions.
The team is hoping that they have seen the last of big rivals E4 at least for a little while anyway! E3, who took a wild decision a few days ago - seen amongst the fleet as a 'make or break move' - is still looking pretty good and presenting a bit of concern so far, as they are looking pretty good. It's a high risk play that just may pay off for them, only time will tell…
As Kenny says “[the] boys onboard are really studs.” That’s our PUMA team, a bunch of hardworking guys who just keep grinding it out and working their tails off.
Two points to make today…1) Poor Kenny is dying for a glass of wine, any wine will do! (apparently!) and 2) if you want to send good luck notes to the boat email pumaoceanracing@gmail.com; the team loves messages and it helps keep their spirits up. One request though…please do not complain about the weather!
