Family, steak and beer. Those were the three requests from the PUMA Ocean Racing team upon their arrival into Cape Town, South Africa. After sailing 6,500 miles from Alicante, Spain, the team is back on dry land. The PUMA team had a great leg and finished in second place, just behind Ericsson 4.
At 19:44 local time Skipper Ken Read and his crew crossed the line in Cape Town. The guys were from the dock to the main stage to be introduced to the media and awaiting crowd. The team and il mostro are tired but in good shape. The shore team will begin working on the boat while the sailing team has a few days rest.
The rest of the fleet is expected to arrive into Cape Town early this week. For all the latest race information, check out the Volvo Ocean Race website.
