Designing il mostro has been the most challenging project to date for us. We needed to come up with not only a top contender for overall podium in the Volvo Ocean Race, but also with a design that would turn heads and redefine the meaning of cool in yachting circles. Synergy between Botin-Carkeek and Puma at all levels was instantaneous, and this joint collaboration has certainly helped to achieve the second objective. We will know how fast the monster is when the race starts in a couple of weeks after the team arrives in Cape Town.
il mostro in a sense captures both Botin-Carkeek's and Puma's approach to design: innovative, contemporary, functional and very competitive. And the ride has been great, joining efforts and pushing boundaries with talented sailors, efficient managers and very unconventional marketing guys. It has been lot's of fun and it shows in the final product.
