Ready to begin Leg 1 to Cape Town
Today, Saturday 11th October 2008 is the day that the Puma Ocean Racing team have been waiting for. At 14.00 (local) today in Alicante, Spain, the crew of il mostro lined up against seven other teams to begin leg one of the race, taking the team 6,500 nautical miles to Cape Town, South Africa. The mood on the dock was tense as the PUMA Ocean Racing Team said their final goodbyes to their families. The Volvo Ocean Race 2008-2009 is on!
